Mastering the Mini!!

ClairewallaceminiMMI love whole cloths!  There is something so elegant about just a piece of fabric and thread.  The problem with whole cloths as I saw it was that there was a lot of measuring (which I totally dislike) and a lot of marking ( which I detest as well).  Maybe you feel the same way?

In my Mastering the Mini, I teach you how to create a one of a kind whole cloth with no measuring  and minimal marking!  What could be better?

I used this method to create Crown Jewels and it did quite well on the show circuit.  🙂

I will be teaching this class at Birds of a Feather (Feb 7, 1:30-6) and MQX  (April 10, 8-12p) (2 day and a 4 hour class)

Now, Mary from MQX has convinced me to do a hands on Mastering the Mini and More class…. what is this, you ask?  Well, it is a 2 part class, The first day (4 hours) will be spent designing your mini and marking it!  I provide you with the white fabric ( feel free to bring your own or I will have some luscious Radiance for sale, just the right size) and thread.

The second day, we will spend this time on the machines stitching out your beautiful masterpieces.   I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.  Make sure you sign up today as space is limited to 12 students… one per machine.

Here are some of the drawings from a previous Mastering the Mini class… these ladies have some wicked talent!  Don’t miss out.

Ok, as many of you know I had a setback in my quilting this year with a bad neck so I haven’t finished mine.  😦  However, I am still working on it… I am also using my BERNINA 750QE to quilt it on.  This means that there is a huge learning curve.

Hope you all had fun with this challenge!

Don’t forget the 12 days of Christmas sale going on at Stone House Quilting.

Happy Quilting

Getting Ready for Houston!!

October already… where did the summer go? I would love it to be summer all year long! Love the sun and surf… although the fall leaves are beautiful, I might miss those.

September was a fun month! I got to teach at MQX Midwest in Springfield, Ill. Did you know that there are ALOT of cornfields between Pa and Illinois?IMG_1959

I met so many talented quilters in my classes and had a wonderful experience.  Hope that MQX is back there next year!

This year will be the first year I am attending  Houston Market! Last year it was just Festival and boy, was that fun.  In celebrating the whole Houston Festival, I am going to have a little pre-sale on my site.  15% off your entire order now through Oct 24th.  For those of you who were on the fence about ordering the Quilter’s Groove Rulers™ now is a great time!  Let your loved ones know, holidays are right around the corner…. oh no, I’d  better get shopping.  Perhaps you’d like to join the whole cloth challenge and need some help on how to start… Mastering the Mini might be just what you need.  Maybe you’d like to see what others have done….. check them out.

There is still time to join the  challenge.   Here are the details.    It has been amazing to see what this group of talented quilters have come up with.  Here is another one by Linda Read. Linda was in my Mastering the Mini class at MQX Midwest in Springfield!  Boy she took it and ran with it!  Great job Linda!  Email your pictures to me at

My whole cloth is still in progress.  Hopefully I’ll have time to work on it this week. Crossing my fingers…

Happy Quilting
