Lancaster Quilt show!!!

I attended the AQS Lancaster Quilt show on Wednesday and had to make a return trip on Sat as I didn’t see the whole show.

I have determined that I am not a great quilt show attendee by myself.  I like to visit all of the vendors that I don’t get to see while I am teaching and catch up.  That is pretty much what I did on Wed.  I didn’t really eve get to see the quilts.

So on the return trip I brought a friend to keep me on track.  LOL  We went through all of the quilts first.  Here is some eye candy for your Monday viewing pleasure…

And one of the main reasons I went back to the show…. Cherrywood Fabrics!

IMG_2547

While I was there I was hoping lightening would strike and I would be motivated and inspired to quilt my hand appliqued top.  While I don’t feel that lightening struck…. I talked with Mark Hyland from Handiquilter and something he said made a huge impact…. “we can only focus on what we are doing and not those around us” ….. that is not the exact quote but you get the drift…  Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what other quilters are doing and seeing their beautiful work that we can get a little lost in our own work…. at least I can.  So  I spent yesterday doing MY thing!  I have marked some areas on my quilt and have a few more (since I really don’t like to mark) and then I will load it up and hopefully have it done to enter into Houston.

I am so happy to get going on this top as I absolutely love it.  What fabrics…. why Cherrywood of course.

MQX East 2015….

is right around the corner!  Have you signed up for your classes?  I am teaching a number of classes and would love to see you there…

Mastering the Mini and Making it yours is one of them.  This is a 2 part class.  The first part is on Wednesday April 8th  8-12p, we will be learning a simple method of designing.  This can be used for a whole cloth (which is what we will be designing), a simple block in a quilt or to design a spectacular border design… Day 2 April 9th  1-5p, , we move to the machines to stitch out your creations.  I will be on hand to guide you in using templates, stitching out beautiful motifs and finally stitching out the fill work!  This is like 5 classes in one!  Don’t miss out!

MQX Class: In the Studio with Lisa H Calle…..

I am so excited for this class!   What are we going to do, you ask?  We have 4 hours to talk about anything you want as you watch me progress through quilting through this sample!  This is a block from my new show quilt which is NOT done.  LOL   I am going to be putting on a border , not quite sure what yet but I want it to be something fun.

New Project

We’ll go through my Divide and Design Process and I’ll show you what I didn’t choose and why.  What threads and batting I like to use as well.  So many things and with only 4 hours, I hope to get it all in.  Bring in your tops that you don’t know what you want to do with and maybe I can help with that too.  Hope to see you there.

Gettin in the Groove!!

I am sure it comes as no surprise to many of you, I LOVE ruler work.  So much so that I have my own line of rulers, Quilter’s Groove Rulers.  Since I have designed my rulers to do what I love with minimal markings, I was encouraged to create a class to teach you all how to use them.  If you already have some , thank you!  I’d love to hear how you use them and how they made your quilting easier.  If you are not familiar with them…. come to the Gettin in the Groove class to learn how having the right tool for the job makes life oh so much easier.   I will be teaching this class at two shows this year,  Birds of a Feather (Feb 7, 10:30a-12:30p) and MQX (April 10, 1-5)

I have 3 new rulers!  ProSpine™ Small, ProSpine™ Medium and ProSpine™ Large!  They each have two different size curves so that’s 6 different spines!  They will be sold individually and in a set.  I am so excited about these.  We will be using the ProSpine™ small in class.  I am expecting the shipment at the end of the week  so shipping will commence the first week of February.

Here is the class sample….

So I printed off my black and white print out but I had some trouble seeing the area I wanted to work on. So I zoomed in on the center and printed that off.  Here is what  I have so far….

A couple of weeks ago, I spent a Friday at Olde City Quilts with Teri Lucas!  We were filming how Teri uses templates on her Domestic machine.  While I was in Houston, I got a lot of question as to whether you could use templates on a domestic machine.  The answer is YES!!!  Teri makes it look so easy.  I will be posting the link on Friday barring any unforeseen computer glitches, so stay tuned!! Here are some of the very talented quilters who used this method.  Come join us.

When No Other will Do….

We all have a favorite something, where no other will really do.  But if we have to, we will make do…. maybe yours is a seat that you like to sit in, a favorite breakfast you eat every morning, or a pillow that you must sleep with.

I have a favorite pen… I absolutely LOVE it!  When I doodle, it glides across my paper which is the best feeling.  I know this pen makes me more creative.  😉   What is this fabulous pen you ask….
