This has been a busy week.  I held my second Divide and Design class here in my studio and it was amazing!  The designs that were created were incredible!  We worked on a simple nine patch block.  I took some pictures and they didn’t turn out well so I am hoping that my students will send me better pictures!  Pretty Please!!!

I am thinking of adding a second day onto this class for work on the longarm/and domestic.  I had two quilters that use their DSM.  I realized that this technique is perfect for the DSM as you work on small areas at a time!

Congratulations to Jean McDaniel!  Her quilt, The Little Blue Quilt, took 2nd place at HMQS.  Jean used the Divide and Design technique on this quilt and it turned out spectacular and obviously the judges thought so as well.  Jean, don’t know if you know this…but you beat me!  I had a quilt in that category as well.  Congrats!  It is a great testament to the technique when my students (or those that purchase my DVD) beat me.  Love it!  Here is “The Little Blue Quilt”

Also, Congratulations to Naomi Hynes who won her first ribbon with a quilt that was also created using the Divide and Design technique!  Here are a couple of pictures of her process.

I am blown away!  Great job, Naomi, that will be your first ribbon of many.

Swan’s Journey won 3rd place in the Applique category at HMQS!  yeah!

Since I have had some trouble with missing deadlines to enter shows, I have created a spreadsheet with dates and links.  I know I am missing shows and would love help keeping it up to date.  If you are interested in helping email me at Lisahcalle@me.com.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

  1. Lisa, I did not know you also had a quilt in that category. I am going to feel guilty for a nanosecond….okay got through that 🙂 it is a great technique of yours and I am very glad you decided to share. Namoi’s quilt is stunning, would love to see it in person. Swans Journey is beautiful, glad to see it also won.
